Sewa International in action, helps to evacuate Indian students
New Delhi: In the Ukraine-Russia conflict worsening, helping people in Ukraine has been difficult as hundreds of thousands flee the country. Amid all this chaos, Sewa International, has joined to assist in getting Indians out from Ukraine and reaching them to their destination.
Sewa International Europe in coordination with the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) Ukraine that are doing yeomen service to these desperate students at ground level. Sewa Europe has a presence in 10 major cities of Ukraine. They are arranging buses/trains for transport and food for these students while on their way to border check posts where they are then taken by Indian embassy staff to airports.
According to Sewa International, over 3000 students have registered on the Sewa Europe helpline. They are provided information, guidelines and moral encouragement.
“On Feb. 26, 2022, Sewa Europe helped a group of 150 students to travel from Vinnitsa to Chernovtsy by bus. At Chernovtsy Sewa provided them shelter, food, and transport for their onward journey to the Romanian border,” said the non-profit in a press release.
Indian students in Ukraine who were helped in evacuation have expressed their gratitude towards the Sewa International. Indian student Rajwinder Kaur said, “We are very grateful to Sewa International because they have been assisting us for 24×7. They haven’t even slept (in order to help us). They have helped in everything. We are very thankful to them! Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!”
