IIDL is organising India’s first Model G20 Summit

Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership IIDL is organising India’s first Model G20 Summit to celebrate India’s presidency.

The two-day Model G-20 Summit will be held on January 30-31, 2023 at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini’s Uttan campus near Mumbai. India’s G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant to inaugurate the Model G20 Summit while and President of ICCR and Vice Chairman of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe will Chair the inauguration ceremony.

Ming Foong Cheong, Consulate General of Singapore in Mumbai (which is a guest invitee of G20) will be the Chief Guest at the valedictory and the prize distribution ceremony.

“Every year we organise a Model International Leaders Meet (MILM) to orient students towards international relations. This is a special year and we thought it would be a good idea to theme this year’s MILM on G20 and take G20 beyond the diplomatic corridors and to the youngsters of the country.” shared Devendra Pai, Director of IIDL Model G20.

Throughout the two days, the students will get in the roles of G20 member countries and discuss on various political and social issues across the four committees or tracks, namely Leader track, Sherpa track, Civil20 and Business20. Discussions ranging from global peace to democratising of the world economic order will be on the agenda.

A total of 150 youngsters from across the country will participate in this two-day programme and get in the roles of delegates representing the G20 countries. The best two delegates will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, the parent organisation of IIDL has is also the secretariat of the G20 Civil Society engagement group – Civil20.
